Abstract
The present research aimed to compare relative usability of different types of in-car navigation system. For this purpose driver's performances in visual search, recall and recognition, and drivingsimulated tracking tasks were analyzed by varying the navigation system conditions [i.e., conventional 2D-graphic (2D), augmented reality (AR), and 2D+AR combined systems]. In addition, eye movement patterns and subjective workload evaluation were also measured. The results showed that AR format navigation system generally induced better performances than the other navigation system conditions.
