본 논문에서는 DVB-S2 위성 방송 시스템의 서비스 제공 환경 악화에도 불구하고 디지털 위성방송 서비스의 비디오 품질을 고품질로 유지할 수 있는 소스-채널 결합 부호화 가법을 제안한다. 특히, 다양한 서비스 환경에 대해 적응적인 비디오 품질을 제공할 수 있는 최신의 계층 부호화 기법인 SVC (Scalable Video Coding) 압축 가법을 DVB-S2 위성 방송 시스템의 채널 부호화 기법인 LDPC (Low Density Parity Check)에 결합 적용함으로써 위성 방송 서비스를 위한 새로운 개념의 계층화된 소스-채널 결합 부호화 기법을 개발한다. 이를 위하여, SVC 소스 부호화 기법과 DVB-S2의 표준 채널 부호화 기법인 LDPC 기법을 결합하여 계층화된 소스-채널 결합 부호화를 수행할 수 있는 알고리듬을 개발하고, 개발된 알고리듬의 효과를 다양한 AWGN (Additive White Gaussian Noise) 채널 잡음 환경에서의 실험을 통해 검증한다.
