Abstract
In order to provide the seamless service over a global coverage, the satellite component of IMT-Advanced will always be considered because the terrestrial component only will not be possible to be deployed all over the world. This paper introduces possible roles and system architectures for the satellite component of IMT-Advanced in the context with two-ways communication and interactive broadcasting services, considering satellite IMT-Advanced requirements. Also, some features of specific system architectures applying cooperative MIMO techniques are presented. These architectures can bring the system enhancement such as performance improvement and additional insertion of local contents.
