The Equalization Digital On-Channel Repeater (EDOCR) was proposed to overcome the limitations of a conventional Digital On-Channel Repeater (DOCR) such as the susceptibility to antenna feedback, limited re-transmitted power, a poor quality of the re-transmitted signal and noise effect. However, there is still a problem that the retransmitted power of the EDOCR is strictly limited to below the antenna isolation level by the reason of that the EDOCR cannot remove the feedback signal higher than the main transmitted signal. To overcome this re-transmitted power limitation, a correlation cancelling-type feedback canceller may be considered for the EDOCR with its implementation simplicity. When the EDOCR adopts the feedback canceller, an additional processing delay and the feedback cancelling range should be carefully assigned. Also no performance degradation in the EDOCR caused by the inclusion of the feedback canceller occurs. This paper deals with these design issues and provide a guideline of designing the feedback canceller for the EDOCR. Simulation results show that the designed feedback canceller has a good feedback performance with a proper system delay not to degrade the equalization performance of the EDOCR.
