초록
Many technologies for IoT have been developed since the term, IoT, was introduced to the public. Each technology has said that it is superior to other technologies; however, there is no winner as of now. Recent trend is that whoever gets the most users in the market wins. Thus, companies who share mutual understanding began to organize consortiums to develop a common standard technology for IoT. Open Connectivity Foundation (OCF) is a recent case. To disseminate an IoT standard widely, it is very important to keep compatibility with existing technologies already available in the market. One of OCF's major goal is bridging to other ecosystems such as AllJoyn, oneM2M, etc. On the other hand, not only IoT ecosystems but traditional connectivity technologies, such as Bluetooth, ZigBee, Z-wave etc., should also be considered. We call them 'legacy devices' in this paper. Legacy device is defined as 'IoT devices that work on their own protocol stack and have been sold in the market. They are independent of any IoT ecosystems such as OCF, AllJoyn etc.'. In this paper, we propose how OCF devices can be bridged to legacy IoT devices. Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) device is chosen as the first target legacy IoT device. Reference implementation codes for bridging based on IoTivity is described too.
