초록
This paper proposes a design of a security scheme for high-rate close proximity point-to-point communication (HRCP) which is under the standardization process in IEEE 802.15.3e. IEEE 802.15.3e enables a high-rate close proximity wireless connectivity between two devices with the communication range of 10 cm or less and it provides data rates up to 100 Gbps. The existing IEEE 802.15.3 security specification is based on CCM; however, CCM is limited to just a few Gbps and it is not suitable for the increased throughput of IEEE 802.15.3e. The existing 802.15 security mechanism uses the SFC (Secure Frame Counter) and the Time Token to ensure the uniqueness of the nonce in a secure frame. Since beacons are not transmitted during the data transmission phase in 802.15.3e pairnet, the Time Token cannot be updated and frequent re-keying is required due to the repeated nonce value caused by the SFC roll-over. In this study, we propose a design of security scheme that solves these problems. The proposed design also includes a scheme to secure 802.15.3e frames in the aggregated format.
