한반도 통일문제의 원활한 해결을 위해서는 국민들 사이에 만연되어 있는 통일에 대한 부정적인 인식과 심리적 불안감 등의 문제를 극복할 수 있는 보다 진정한 정치적 리더십이 절실히 요구된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 긍정심리학(Positive Psychology)과 긍정조직행동학(Positive Organizational Behaviorology)에서 활발하게 논의되고 있는 진실한 리더십(Authentic Leadership)과 긍정심리자본(Positive Psychological Capital)을 중심으로 한반도 통일에 필요한 정치리더십을 재고찰하였다. 특히, 진실한 리더십과 긍정심리자본이 국민들의 대북․통일문제에 대한 태도와 행위에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 대북․통일정책모델과 이론적 접근을 통해서 살펴보았다. 긍정심리자본, 긍정적인 도덕성, 리더의 자기인식, 리더의 자기조절, 그리고 리더십 과정과 행위의 중요성을 인식하고 있는 리더는 국민으로부터 신뢰감을 얻는다. 이러한 신뢰를 바탕으로 통일에 대한 희망과 긍정적 정서, 그리고 낙관적 환경을 조성할 수 있으며, 이는 국민들의 태도와 행위에 긍정적인 영향을 줌으로서 진실한 리더는 통일에 대한 새로운 비전을 제시할 수 있다.
