- Abstract
- In this paper, we proposed a novel query expansion method that utilizes user comments in order to consider user’s different preferences in finding movies. It identifies user profiles of all the users who have left user comments and expands user’s initial query by choosing more terms from the user profiles. With an actual dataset of Naver Movie, one of the most popular movie reviewing web service in South Korea, we show that our system shows a significant performance improvement compared to the baseline. We expect our approach to be readily applicable to personalized searching various contents such as movie via TV and other multimedia.
