Abstract
Low-power and Lossy Networks (LLNs) are composed of many embedded devices interconnected with high loss rate. These days, LLNs are required to connect to the Internet for interoperability. To achieve it, LLNs should support IPv6. 6LoWPAN is one of the most popular solutions to support IPv6 providing header compression and packet fragmentation. Especially, 6LoWPAN supports "contextbased header compression" in case of internetworking outside the LLN. For the compression, border routers maintain context tables that usually contain prefixes of external hosts' addresses. Contexts should be replaced dynamically because few contexts can be registered in the context table. In this paper, we present the design of context table management based on the score that is evaluated according to the distance of destination and the transmitting period of the external host. We also simulate our scheme with FCFS and LRU. The simulation results that our scheme meets the long lifetime operation without a network administrator and gets higher context hit rate than the others.
