Abstract
The soliton-like pulse shape for a sub-microjoule soft-aperture Kerr-lens mode-locked oscillator operating in a negative dispersion regime was studied using a 1-dimensional nonlinear Ginzburg-Landau equation and recent experimental results. To avoid nonlinearities such as multiple pulsing and chaos, we found not only that minimum group delay dispersion played a significant role in stable soliton-like pulse formation, but also that cavity loss enhanced pulse energy and suppressed multiple pulsing.
