Abstract
In multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) cellular networks with aggressive frequency reuse, it is assumed that there are large-scale MIMO systems with hundreds of low-power antennas and users with a low activity factor. In those environments, we consider multiuser detection (MUD) techniques which first cancel out the interference induced by adjacent cells and then recover the desired users' information by embracing the sparse user activity. It is shown that exploiting the common user activity across multiple symbols can be considered to improve the performance of sparsity-aware MUD.
