Abstract
In this paper, we analyze the time slice receiver architecture supporting wideband DVB-S2 standard that was published recently. The conventional receivers dedicated for Ku band can cover entire transponder bandwidth at the level of around 36MHz but time slice one should accommodate approximately between 200 and 500 MHz bandwidth using single receiver. It’s not efficient to apply multiple receivers in terms of bandwidth and power utilization. On the contrary, it’s so complicated that single receiver handles wideband transponder corresponding to high symbol rate. Therefore, it’s necessary to envisage new protocol in order to process huge data rate. Accordingly time slice transmission was proposed within DVBS2 standard. This paper establishes firstly the essential guideline based on specific design to support the function of time slice DVB-S2 reception.
