Abstract
A two-channel transmitter and receiver optical subassembly (TOSA/ROSA) integrating multi-mode fiber for optical digital link based on TO-CAN was fabricated. Double wavelengths were combined and separated using double right-angled triangular metal structures and WDM thin film filters with a TOSA which consisted of TO-stem with an 850 nm and 1060 nm multimode VCSEL and ROSA which consisted of an InGaAs PD and Silicon PD. From the experimental results, we confirmed that proposed optical subassemblies have transmission speed of more than 3.4 Gbps and bandwidth of more than 4.0 GHz. The TOSA's extinction ratio was more than 8.8 dB and the ROSA's minimum sensitivity at a bit error rate of 10-10 was less than -18 dBm under 3.4 Gbit/s operations, respectively. Also, the fabricated optical HMDI cable with 100 m length of multi-mode fiber was shown the feasibility of proposed OSAs by playing the Full-HD 3D contents without losses or noises. © 2013 Elsevier GmbH.
