Abstract
In this paper, a robust vision system is proposed to detect balls with multi-exposure cameras to estimate ball speed and spin for outdoor swing analysis. A robust detection process based on adaptive thresholding and fitting techniques is used to detect balls from multi-exposed images regardless of shadows and reflections in outdoor environments. Experimental results show that the overall performance of the proposed system is comparable to that of a radar system for outdoor swing analysis. © 2013 IEEE.
