- Abstract
- Recently, standards developing organisations (SDOs) are paying more attention to intellectual property rights (IPR) included in the industry standards. In addition, most of developed countries are actively participating in standards developing and setting process along with essential patent declaration. SDOs have common rules that govern the patent rights and the patents applying to standards must adopt the principle of "fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory terms" (FRAND). In this paper, the authors analysed ITU-T patent database and studied IPR-related standards developing activities of individual countries and organisations.
