스마트폰 등 무선 데이터 사용자 수가 매년 급속도로 확산되면서 모바일 데이터 트래픽은 지수적으로 증가하고 있다. 이러한 모바일 데이터 트래픽 급증에 대응하기 위해서는 이동통신 기술 혁신에 따른 네트워크 용량 향상과 고도화가 필요한 B4G 이동통신 시스템의 개발이 시급하다. B4G 이동통신 기술은 3GPP와 IEEE 802 등에서 IMT-Advanced 이후를 대비한 성능 향상 및 다양한 응용을 위한 기술들을 포함하며, 4G 이동통신 대비 10 배 이상의 전송 용량을 제공하는 에너지 효율적인 차세대 이동통신 기술이다. 이와 같이 B4G 이동통신 기술이 개발되면 고정 사용자에게 최대 10Gbps, 이동 가입자에게 최대 1Gbps 서비스 제공을 목표로 하고 있다. 본 고에서는 B4G 이동통신 시스템 구성 기술, B4G 이동통신 요소 기술인 사물지능 통신, 단말간 직접 통신, 멀티 안테나 전송 기술, 반송파 집적 기술, 그리고 협력형 다중 전송 기술에 대해 기술하고자 한다.
