Abstract
We compare three devices for direct hand-based interaction in augmented reality environments. We survey the latest dozens of papers, news, and articles about AR devices and selected three different representative devices: projection-based device, see-through-panel-based device, and seethrough head mount display (HMD)-based device. We enumerate and understand advantages and disadvantages of each device. In addition, we configure a virtual touch-based tabletop miniature interaction system based on the see-through HMD and demonstrate our direct hand-based interaction system using fingertip gesture recognition.
