Abstract
Denial of Service (DoS) attack is coordinated attacks performed by hackers to disable a particular computer service through manipulation of techniques those are used to provide the services. UDP flooding attack is a kind of DoS attack, and denotes an attack made in such a way as to consume the network resource of targets for attacks using a large number of UDP packets. In this paper, we present various features of UDP flooding attacks based on attack traffic characteristics. Then, we propose the detection and response mechanism about these attack types. Most of all, our proposed method is possible to provide a smooth network service to normal users by classifying UDP flooding attacks into various types and detecting and dropping an attack according to type-specific characteristics.
