Abstract
High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), a new video coding standard, is recently developed which can achieves bit-rate reduction of 50% compared to H.264/AVC. In order to achieve this improved coding performance, HEVC adopts various advanced techniques requiring heavy encoding complexity. In this paper, comprehensive analysis is performed to reduce the computational complexity by constraining the number of multiple reference frame in the inter prediction. From the analysis, experimental results show that the adaptive configurations of multiple reference frame achieve nearly one half of inter prediction time, while maintaining almost the same coding performance to that of HEVC reference software.
