Abstract
We proposed an approach to quantitatively evaluate the holographic display's performance by calculating Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) from the captured image of the reconstructed hologram. It was testified by calculating MTF from the reconstructed phase hologram to be generated from line and spacing pattern images with different periods using Gerchberg-Saxton algorithm. The result shows the MTF is increased in proportion as the hologram quality improves gradually. It means that MTF can be used with an objective parameter to evaluate the performance of the holographic display to reconstruct three-dimensional object.
