Abstract
Specific absorption rates (SAR) in child and adult head models are compared for the radiation from a typical mobile phone model used in Korea. The typical phone model has the antenna at the bottom inside the body and operates at 1850 MHz, which represents the UMTS Band 1 or CDMA Band Class 4. The calculated SAR results show that the spatial peak 1-g SAR in a child's head and brain is not particularly higher compared with that in an adult's during the normal use position of a mobile phone, i.e., the cheek or tilt position.
