- Abstract
- Denial of Service (DoS) attack is performed by hackers to disable a particular computer service. ICMP flooding attack is a kind of DoS attack, and denotes an attack made in such a way as to consume the network resource of targets. In this paper, we present various features of ICMP flooding attacks on attack traffic characteristics. Then, we propose the detection mechanism about the attack types. Most of all, our proposed method is possible to provide a smooth network service to normal users by detecting and dropping an attack according to type-specific characteristics.
