Abstract
The goal of e-Navigation strategy plan is to provide the navigational safety and the protection of marine environment by means of ICT technologies. As IMO finished defining user requirements, analyzing the gaps between user needs and current technologies, and prioritizing their solutions, we have to provide e-navigation services with the supporting frameworks. These are implemented as service supporting software platforms which are a shore-based service supporting system and a shipborne service supporting system. These two systems work for interoperability and provide the technical and operational functions respectively. Especially shipborne system must provide flexible HMI and reliable functionalities based on embedded system to reduce human errors. In this paper, we describe the e-Navigation overarching architecture and the requirements of the maritime service supporting platforms. We also provide the detailed e-Navigation architecture and suggest the examples of each platform.
