Abstract
IEEE 802.15.8 peer aware communications (PAC) is a standard for device to device (D2D) communication with infrastructure-less and fully distributed coordination. We illuminate the specifications of IEEE 802.15.8 and focus on the performance of physical layer structure which uses a Zadoff-Chu (ZC) sequence for distributed synchronization and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) for data transmission. Finally performance of the distributed synchronization and packet error rate (PER) in practical channel environments are examined by computer simulations.
