Abstract
Real-time large digital holographic display is the challenging issue for the future consumer display and TV market. Sub-hologram display method with a tracked viewing-window is one of the most practical approaches for realizing big size holographic display. However, this method requires highly accurate pupil tracking in real-time to enable precise steering of light sources and generation of corresponding sub-hologram for each video frame. In this paper, a pupil tracking method using Kinect camera and stereo camera together is introduced. To increase pupil tracking performance, initial eye detection results from Kinect are re-estimated with high resolution stereo image through 2D-3D mapping and pupil detection. The experimental results show that our method can extract pupil exactly and adjust the viewing window of the display into the observer’s pupil.
