Abstract
Semantic search is basically an information access process in which the meanings of data and the understandings of searcher intent are exploited. Thus, the process should involve two sub-processes: 1) modeling and representing domain knowledge; and 2) interpreting and transforming user’s keyword query. In this paper, a well-established and sophisticated domain knowledge modeling scheme is proposed based on a formal ontology theory, and a step-by-step search space reduction process is proposed based on the view that the keyword query interpretation is progressive translations of intermediary search spaces.
