USAC Stream Delivery over Digital Radio Network

- Abstract
- This paper presents a delivery protocol of USAC audio stream over the digital radio network DAB. USAC is more efficient if variable bit rate coding is applied to the radio sound compared to CBR because more quality can be guaranteed for the active frame. In the case of VBR, the AU border needs to be identified appropriately by the indication field. In the paper, the concept of toggled sync byte and associated fields are defined in order for the decoder to identify the audio frame border. With the proposed idea, the decoder is able to get access to the AU and decode it as arrived in consecutive order.
