Abstract
Skew is an important parameter of a balanced receiver that has significant influence upon its performance, and should be kept as small as possible. To measure small skew in time domain requires advanced equipments such as short pulse laser and wide bandwidth oscilloscope. Presented is a simple method for measuring skew of a balanced receiver using conventional bandwidth measurement setup with beam splitter. By adding skew to the output of the beam splitter, small skew of a balanced receiver can be obtained easily. © 2012 The Japan Society of Applied Physics.
