일반적으로 무선통신 채널의 특성은 경로손실(path loss), 음영손실(shadowing), 다중 경로 페이딩(multi-path fading), 도플러 효과(Doppler effect) 등으로 나누어 설명할 수 있는데 그동안 진행된 고속철도 환경에서의 무선통신 채널 특성 연구는 주로 Hata 모델과 도플러 효과에 의한 BER 성능 분석과 핸드오버 성능 분석이 주를 이루고 있다. 무선통신 기반의 열차제어시스템의 요구사항은 도시철도, 일반철도, 고속철도의 경우가 각각 차이가 있을 뿐만 아니라, 열차 속도에 따른 무선통신 채널의 특성이 차이가 있기 때문에 본 논문에서는 고속철도 환경에서 반드시 고려해야 할 LTE 무선통신 채널 특성 중에서 속도에 따른 무선채널의 특징인 도플러 효과에 대해 살펴보고자 한다.
