본 논문에서는 웹서비스 방법을 이용한 바이오 정보 통합에 관한 세계적인 기술동향에 관해 알아본다. 일반적으로 알려진 바이오 정보 및 자원은 각자 독특한 특성을 가짐은 물론 그 데이터모델이 항상 변하고 있다는 특성상 통합에는 어려운 점이 많다. 이런 기존의 문제를 웹서비스 기술을 이용하여 통합하려는 노력이 시도되고 있으며, 현재 연구되고 있는 대표적인 기술로는 Bio-Moby, MrGrid, DDBJ, DAS 등이 있다. 이들이 통합하고자 하는 대상와 목적은 조금씩 차이가 있지만, 웹서비스가 근간이 된다는 점에서는 그 공통점을 갖는다. 이 논문에서는 이런 최근 기술의 특성을 분석하고 이들의 특성을 살펴본다. 여기에서 나타난 문제점을 보완하고 기존 기술의 장점을 계숭하고 단점을 보완하여 현재 우리가 개발하고 있는 바이오 정보 통합 모델의 정립에 활용하도록 한다.
