Unlike in the IS-95 based synchronous CDMA system, each base station (BS) operates asynchronously and use Gold code sequence in the 3GPP asynchronous WCDMA system. Therefore, for so# handover (SHO) case, the searching rime for all active set members of BS becomes very long. In order to mainfoin good link quality during fhe handover execution, if is very important to reduce the handover search time for the forget BS. In fhis paper, we propose an e,!Xcient searcher archifecture and algorifhm to reduce handover search time for asynchronous WCDMA system We introduce double dwell serial searcher architeefure wifh dual scrambling code generotors and search algorithm, which reduce search rime in handover environment wifh small increase. of hardware comp1exiQ. Average search time performance of proposed scheme is analyzed for so# handover environmenL And the real threshold values of search mode and verificnfion mode are investigated The results analyzed in fhis paper may be applied Io the designing the user equipment (UE) multi-parh searcher of 3GPP WCDMA system.
