초록
In this paper, we analyze the performance of random access channels (RACHs) and low data rate channels in a WCDMA system where convolutional code is used for error control. The performance of these channels depends on the number of active users, spreading factors, signal to noise ratio (SNR) and the extent of fading experienced by the users.Under Nakagami fading environment, we obtain bit error rate (BER), packet success probability, effective throughput and delay as functions of various system parameters. Numerical results are presented in order to demonstrate the performance tradeoffs among packet success probability, number of active users, effective throughput and mean packet delay. Our work can be used for a rough guideline for controlling channel access of new and handover calls
