Abstract
The fabrication of a high-power widely tunable sampled grating (SG)-DBR laser monolithically integrated with a semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOA) was analyzed. The integration of active gain and SOA sections with passive waveguide tuning section was done using an offset quantum-well structure in a planar buried heterostructure (PBH). A 1.3 μm bulk waveguide layer was butt-coupled to a 1.55 μm strained SCH-MQM active layers. Results show that the fiber coupled output power is more than 10dBm and CW operation, and the output power variation was ~1 dB.
