Abstract
Unlike a conventional photo-voltaic module the developed concentrating photo-voltaic(CPV) module with a light guide can reduce the total thickness of the module. However since the CPV has a problem of high heat flux the center column with four solar cells on each face of it an effective heat dissipation solution is needed. In the present study, the cooling solution with heat pipe was considered and its thermal effectiveness was confirmed by simulation. Through the simulation it was confirmed that the cooling solution with heat pipe can decrease about 20℃ of junction temperature. In the mean time, the experimental test was performed to investigate the thermal performance of the pressed and bent heat pipe. The heat pipe has height of 3.81mm by pressing original diameter of 5mm and curvature radius of 11mm by bent. Through the results, it was also confirmed that there is no any performance decreasing by bent and pressing. In the future, the cooling solution with heat pipe will be optimized according to the design of the CPV module.
