Abstract
In mobile systems, the frequency selective fading channel impairs the CDMA signals by the MAI resulting from the non-zero cross-correlations among the relative delayed signals. This interference increases with the number of active channels, i.e. the number of the codes, and limits the capacity strongly. To address this problem, a channel hopping technique is developed, which can transmit more information bits for a given number of codes. Alternatively, for a given value of throughput, the proposed technique can reduce effectively the number of codes and, therefore, increase the capacity by reducing the MAI. To verify the predicted advantage, a simulation is carried out, based on the platform of a modified TDD-WCDMA standard. The results confirm the theoretical result in term of the better BER performance.
