Abstract
The spectral sound field variations at multi-tone frequencies are investigated for fire ignited by a gas burner in a real room. The sound pressure field generated by a speaker is measured by a microphone installed within a room. Multi-tone frequency sound source is used to obtain the sound field spectra for fire detection. The sound pressure level spectral pattern is measured and analyzed during the fire ignition and heating process. We investigated the spectral changes induced by the change of sound velocity as a function of air temperature. The spectral position of interference peaks and the spectral pattern shifts to higher frequency are analyzed by the change of sound velocity depending on the air temperature. We verified the feasibility of an early stage fire detection method by using this kind of spectral sound field variation.
