Abstract
Grid replication service improves availability in terms of storing multiple data at the distributed locations, however there is not any economic scheme to decide the location of multiple replicas. In this paper, we introduce the Tree-based Replica Location Scheme (TRLS) to decide the replica locations. The objective of TRLS is to minimize the sum of storage cost and communication cost of the replication, and the problem is solved using linear programming. The performance of proposed model is evaluated based on a manually created network topology. From the evaluation results, we present that the total replication cost increases exponentially according to the number of replicas, and the number of hop counts is reduced by adapting relative weights to the scheme. © 2004 IEEE.
