Abstract
Hyper-spectral images have lots of merits for natural resource exploration and forest management, and etc., because of their high spectral resolution. Unlike airborne sensor, spaceborne hyper-spectral sensor can acquire images over inaccessible target area. However, it is not always possible to survey ground control points (GCPs) for the orientation of the images covering the inaccessible area so that the geo-registration of such images encounters difficulties to achieve high accuracy. Spaceborne linear array scanner can acquire an image covering the large area of ground coverage up to hundreds kilometers long during given scan time. With this nature of imaging mechanism, sometimes spaceborne hyper-spectral linear array scanner can take images covering both inaccessible area and accessible area on the same path of the orbit. This fact allows improving the accuracy of geo-registration of the images covering inaccessible area in which GCPs are not available. The geo-registration of the images covering such an inaccessible area can be performed by the interpolation of exterior orientation parameters, determined by using GCPs, of the images of the accessible area. In this paper, the methods of the geo-registration for the images covering inaccessible area are studied using a strip of spaceborne hyperspectral image.
