Abstract
This paper reports the triple-layered multimorph PZN-PNN-PZT piezoelectric energy harvesting device which can generate larger output current and power. The piezoelectric energy harvesting device was successfully fabricated using a 8-layered Pb(Zr1/2Ti1/2)O3-(Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3-Pb(Ni1/3Nb2/3)O3) (PZT-PZN-PNN) ceramic sheet (which has an area of 17 mm x 11 mm and thickness of 110 m) bonded on a PET film. In order to achieve the higher output performance of the piezoelectric energy harvester, the piezoelectric ceramic film was designed to have the triple-layered multimorph structure. From continual bending and unbending motions, it was shown that the multimorph PZN-PNN-PZT based energy harvester can generate an open-circuit output voltage of 8.65 V and a significantly large short-circuit current of 334 A. These results reveal that the fabricated triple-layered multimorph ceramic based energy harvesting device represents excellent output performance compared to previous reported piezoelectric energy harvesters.
