Abstract
In this paper, we propose a way to predict flow termination in wireless packet networks. The scheme is based on packet length measurement, which takes place in the base station. It learns the dynamics of packet lengths in traffic flow and utilizes the observation to make the decision for flow termination. By predicting flow termination time accurately, a base station can eliminate unnecessary channel holding time for the flow and enhance radio channel utilization distinctly.
