본 논문에서는 IEEE 802.15.3 High-rate WPAN(Wireless Personal Area Networks) 환경에서 새로운 TCP 전송모드를 사용하여 성능이 향상된 MAC 프로토콜을 제안한다. IEEE 802.15.3 WPAN은 QoS를 제공하는 고속의 단거리 전송을 목적으로 개발되었다. 타임 슬롯을 이용하는 단방향 CTA는 TCP와 같이 양방향 통신 채널을 이용하는 상위 계층 프로토콜이 적용된 통신에서는 성능이 매우 낮아지는 결과를 보인다. 현재까지 표준문서를 기반으로 TCP 트래픽을 전송하기 위한 세 가지 방안이 제안되었다.그러나 채널 사용의 효율성이나 충돌방지의 문제 등으로 인해 효율적인 통신을 하지 못한다. 본 논문에서는 고속 무선 PAN에서 채널 타임 할당(CTAs) 구간에서 TCP sender와 receiver 사이에 양방향 전송이 가능한 Bidirectional CTA의 할당과 전송이 충돌방지를 위한 매카니즘인 새로운 TCP 전송모드를 제안한다. 이 매카니즘은 CTA를 할당하기 위해 control 메시지를 추가할 필요가 없기 때문에 고속의 WPAN에서 TCP 통신의 성능을 향상시킨다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 본 논문에서 제안한 TCP 전송모드와 현재 WPAN 표준에서 제안되어 사용되는 TCP 전송방법의 성능을 비교하여 성능의 향상을 검증한다.
