Abstract
We proposed the mesh gate structure for carbon nanotube (CNT) field emitter with a high accelerating anode voltage [1], and here renamed it the tapered macro gate (TMG) to clarify its function. The TMG has relatively tall and tapered holes compared with CNT emitter. The tapered gate hole was shown to protect the CNT emitters from the anode field perfectly, enabling us to apply a high anode voltage over 10 kV along with an electron beam focusing effect.
