Abstract
In order to improve field emission performances, the optimizing process of carbon nanotube (CNT) paste was investigated in terms of surface morphology. The CNT emitters were formed by a photolithography process and then a surface treatment was applied to protrude and align CNTs vertically. The surface morphology and field emission properties were found to be strongly dependent on the paste composition. The CNT emitters with the optimized paste composition showed great improvements in field emission characteristics including the effective emission density, uniformity and lifetime.
