Abstract
In robotic minimally invasive surgeries systems, 3D reconstruction is important as providing a basic information for image guided navigation, augmented reality and etc. Although different techniques for 3D reconstruction have been proposed, so far there are problems with insufficient real-time performance in high resolution or difficulties of implementation. In this paper, for calculating the 3d depth information of high resolution in real-time, we examine the problems and challenges generated by applying the existing stereo matching based on edge preserving filter. We evaluate the performance with some passive stereo matching algorithms using reliable 3D reconstruction point from real laparoscopic surgery video.
