Abstract
In this paper, the multipaction free Ka-band (20/30GHz) waveguide diplexer with asymmetric irises has been designed and implemented. The radiator manufactured as part of one diplexer half which induces that tuning screws are placed on not center but side. For those reasons, the irises in receiving filter need asymmetric form to obtain the space for tuning screws. For high power handling, low level of passive intermodulation (PIM) and enough margin of multipaction are required. To avoid high PIM products the diplexer was split along the broad wall of waveguide and just two tuning screws were used. Multipaction margin was analyzed by comparing the susceptibility zone graph of ESA/ESTEC with the calculated E filed in the critical region of the diplexer. The measured results of the diplexer meet the specifications and have a good agreement with the analysis results.
