Abstract
The Ka-band communications payload is a part of COMS located in geostationary orbit, the purpose of which is to provide four fixed satellite service channels. The payload architecture utilizes Ka-band on-board switching transponder and multi beam antenna designs following those required in the SATCOM system requirement with enhanced microwave hardware. This paper presents an overview of the project work, the critical design of the Ka-band communications payloads, and a discussion of the management activities required to complete the project. A recommendation for future work is also included to aid subsequent projects associated with SATCOM. Also this paper focuses on the RF performances being performed for the space segment of SATCOM system at the ETRI, principally related to the COMS.
