Abstract
A high speed 4x4 Microwave Switch Matrix (MSM) with 60dB on-to-off isolation using MMIC switches is designed and measured. The isolation performances of the MMIC switches for two different RF-interconnection approaches, microstrip line and grounded coplanar waveguide (GCPW) line, are investigated. On-to-off isolation is improved by 12.7dB with the GCPW design adopting coplanar wire-bond interconnection (CWBI) compared with the microstrip design at a 3.4 GHz. The measured insertion loss scatters and on-to-off isolation of MSM over 3.3GHz ~ 3.5GHz are less than ±0.35dB and greater than 58.8dB, respectively. The high speed MSM exhibits a switching time of <15ns.
