Abstract
Ubiquitous robotic space (URS) is the ubiquitous computing environment where robots can promote their capabilities of perception and intelligence with helps from the networked sensors, actuators, and software services dispersed around the physical and cyber space. Building a common semantics layer on top of URS is important to make robots understand situations and provide intelligent services, as understanding comes from interpretation and interpretation from semantics. We describe an intermediary result of our efforts to develop the semantics layer called semantic-URS (SURS), together with an application of SURS for an office surveillance service.
