Abstract
As improving the technology of internet and multimedia processing, IPTV has been emerged as new revenue opportunities to network service providers. To provide IPTV service, network service providers have to consider both network and multimedia affecting factors to guarantee adaptable network service level. In the view of network service customers, it is a good way to require a concise contract with network service providers when they want to get IPTV service. To accommodate customers' requirement, Service Level Agreement (SLA) has been a key role to provide network service through a concise contract between network service provider and customers. It is needed that to define SLA metrics, monitor current status, collect raw data, verify the violation of SLA metrics and notify the result of SLA monitoring operation to the customers for guaranteeing contract. In the case of SLA fault metrics, it is required to collect raw data of fault information to verify the violation of SLA fault metrics. This paper discusses the fault detecting method for monitoring SLA fault metrics of IPTV service.
