Abstract
The small form factor disk which is satisfied the blu-ray specification especially 320 nm track pitch has been implemented. The data area of the fabricated disk is located 7.2mm from the disk center to 13.5 mm from the same position. The cover layer on the disk is formed by spin coating method and the specially designed metal chucking hub has been adopted for preventing vibration during high speed rotation. The static recording measurement for power transition effect has been carried out. The optimum condition for writing the bit is obtained at the 10mW input laser and 45 ns pulse width for this disk. The disk has 1 GB capacity with single layer and shows very low deflection and good tilt margin. © 2006 The Japan Society of Applied Physics.
